Michael Angove Solo Double at the Royal Opera Arcade
Michael Angove
Royal Opera Arcade Gallery
Michael Angove studied textile design at the Royal College of Art and has worked successfully as a textile designer in London for a decade. Concurrently with that career, Michael has always made drawings. While studying for his BA at Winchester School of Art, he won two specific prizes for drawing. As time passed, people who saw his drawings desired to own them. He was encouraged to exhibit them and has since shown at ArtLondon in 2009 and at the 20/21 International Art Fair and the Chelsea Art Fair in 2010. On each occasion, all his work has sold.
His drawings represent his chosen objects, e.g. birds’ eggs, insects, feathers, keys, spoons and string. He employs an extensive array of finely sharpened colour pencils. The drawings are made from life in his studio, shown floating on a neutral, shadowed surface, described by the artist as ‘the empty room’. They are hauntingly evocative of personal memory and meaning.

Matthew Chambers Exhibition at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery
Matthew Chambers
Matthew Chambers began his career in 1993 as a tableware maker for Philip Wood in Somerset. Matt studied at Bath School of Art followed by the Royal College of Art, completing his studies in 2004. Since then his work has been shown in many exhibitions, both here and abroad, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Museum Westerwald in Germany and the World Ceramic Centre in Korea. His work is held in many public and private collections. He is currently engaged on a major commission for the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Hotel in Hong Kong. His work was recently featured on Grand Designs on TV.
This new body of work continues to explore some of the many aspects of composition extant in his oeuvre since 2005, the beginning of the development of his unique style and technique.

Michael Angove & Matthew Chambers
Drawings by Michael Angove
Ceramic Sculpture by Matthew Chambers
On show at the ROA Gallery - 2 Royal Opera Arcade, Pall Mall, London SW1Y 4UY
Monday 22 – Saturday 27 November 2010
Monday – Friday: 10.00am – 8.00pm
Saturday: 10.00am – 6.00pm
Catharine Miller and Stephen Lacey have much pleasure in presenting two solo shows together, new drawings by Michael Angove and new ceramic sculpture by Matthew Chambers. We first exhibited their work at the Royal College in February and were excited at the dialogue that ensued. Although different in all outward respects, style, form and media, their work expresses a similar sensibility. Technically, they are superb, employing their materials with great fluency and making works that are both visually and emotionally compelling.

Parallax Exhibition at la Galleria Pall Mall opens on Nov 22
Some artists exhibiting in the Parallax Exhibition at La Galleria In Pall Mall are: Sarah Tse (China, b. 1985); Pasquale Abbatiello (Italy, b. 1985); Matthew Collins
(USA, b. 1970); Van Rainy Hecht-Nielsen (USA, b. 1974); Adam Reeder (USA, b. 1976); Robert Bodem (USA, b.
1971); Aaron Camilleri Cauchi (Malta, b. 1979); Alexey Golovin (Russia, b. 1977).
Why is Parallax exhibition important?
Parallax exposes how we use Art History, History and Museology to
fabricate and buttress an illusion of Modernity. Key to this is the
assumption that meaning, often in the form of Artists’ ideas or a
zeitgeist, inheres in Art Objects (Painting, Sculpture, Installation
etc.). Our belief that we can “read” Andy Warhol or Damien Hirst
from their Films and Paintings involves an element of
anthropomorphic projection, the personification of inert and
inanimate objects. The fantasy that “art” is a visual “language”
delimits meaning and is the possible basis for a cultural and
pedagogical technocracy. In conjunction, we have also constructed
an Art History archive of periods, styles and genres often
forgetting that this artificial system is an interpretation of an
inaccessible Past. Our Modernity (and Postmodernity) then is
contrived and ideologically formatted. We construct the Past, and
its representative Art or Objects, in order to stage our desired
Present and Future. Our expectation of the “art” that can, and
should, embody our sense of modernity in the Present, is a choice
and not an objective reality of some kind. Drawing poetically on
the semantic paradoxes of “parallax”, “en avant” and “idem
sonans”, Parallax exposes the pretence of our artistic Modernity by
visually metaphorising its internal contradictions as well as
celebrating the rhetorical nature of knowledge creation.

Andy Murray
Qualified October 14, 2010"I can't say I've ever created a self-portrait quite like this before - it was good fun but I don't think I'll be giving up my day job just quite yet! I'm looking forward to seeing it in the gallery, hopefully it can raise some money for charity!

Qualified August 31, 2010"It was great fun being invited to create my self portrait and I'm excited to see how the finished piece looks. Raising money for charity is always a great thing so already I would like to thank people who will buy these pictures and it's going to be for a good cause. I'm happy I can help a bit. I am very happy as it is the ninth consecutive year I have qualified for the year-end event. I have played in a lot of different venues during my career and I can say they staged a fantastic event at The O2 last year. I look forward to returning there in November and finishing the season strong.
Art by Rafael Nadal at La Galleria in Pall Mall
Rafael Nadal
Qualified June 6, 2010"Making the artwork was fun and something I've never done before. It's a great way to celebrate the World Tour Finals coming back to London. It was a little bit of a challenge to put the balls on the silhouette! Of course this is the least we can do for charity and for those who need it the most. It's very important that people in our position help those who really need help. I'd like to thank everyone for the support they give us."

Aziralili Art Exhibition at the ROA Gallery - Pall Mall
Aziralili Art Exhibition
At the ROA Gallery from Monday 8th November for 2 weeks
"Life is a fascination - as the artist shows in her every painting
Her arrival into the world in a small Polish town , in a esteemed familly significantly
determined the development and future life of Aziralili .
She is a grdauate of the University in Wroclaw .
During her time at school - study - she travels a lot . At this moment a large variety
of work is emering from her .
She also designed a spring/summer clothes collection , which was later entered into
production .
After finishing her studies , Aziralili has a variety of possibilities open to her in continuing
to work on her technique - she paints , sketchers and exhibits her works .
In creating a family a new priority will come forward - her child .
New experiences and challenges gave birth to a new outlook onto reality - her hypnotic
paintings were exhibited in Germany , USA , and Poland .
Aziralili can increasingly give more of herself towards her passion - painting emotions , experiences and desires in paintings . They are structurally diverse expressions
resulting from the repetition of similar elements found amongs the universe . Its rules and
laws of nature , coded in our sub-consciousness , guide us .
They decide what we find desirable and attractive"

If you are having difficulty in finding a gallery to represent you, one alternative is to hire a gallery to host your show.
Galleries can be hired usually on a weekly basis , and you can share the hire costs with other artists and do a group show. To do a group show you will need a gallery big enough to enable all artists to showcase their work
properly.
The adavantage of a group show are :
-Sharing the costs of the hire
-Sharing the selling of the works
-Sharing mailing lists
-Sharing press contacts
Hire galleries normally provide only the space, location and facilities and you are responsible for everything else connected to the exhibition
In Pall Mall you have three for hire galleries:
The Mall Galleries - www.mallgalleries.org.uk
La Galleria Pall Mall - www.lagalleria.org
ROA Gallery - www.roa-galleria.com
